A magical realism story about a Grandma and a Grandson trapped in a massive, never ending sink-hole, living on a large boulder suspended by strong winds. Together they scavenge falling debris to build an escape, hoping to find a better life in the outside world.
This new wave of artsy horror films is stalling a bit because they are trying to be more allegorical than literal. And although I'm one of those who favors more what's implied than what it's shown, it doesn't work much when you're not building a more effective horror story and that's what in the end ends up undermining the whole film in general. Especially because there are very boring lapses and also because towards the ending, it fails to live up to what it promised at first.

Funniest movie I've seen this year. Banality of evil, indeed. I loved "The Thick Of It" (thanks, You Tube!) and it was great to see Malcolm and Jamie back to their old tricks again. Unlike "The Thick Of It", however, the other characters were a little less interesting, and some of the scenes dragged on a bit.

Old-school magic meets the modern world when young Alex stumbles upon the mythical sword Excalibur. Didn't expect much from this but the kids are good, Merlin (both old and young) is a delight and it's actually rather corny fun. If you expected it to be anything else, why are you watching it?
Only effect I thought weak was the one for 'MorganaDragon' and the rest are up to par, in the main.
Story isn't overlong, unless you can only tolerate cartoons. Neither the best, nor the worst film you'll see.
Give it a go. Avoid preconceptions. If you're disappointed, you simply have no soul. Particularly if you can't warm to Bedders immediately.

The original Suspiria, directed by Daria Argento, was a masterpiece for a horror,suspense, mystery, fantastical film. This is a remake of it but instead of improving narrative, cinematography, character development, plot devices, script and acting, it fells short, very short. this does not scare at all nor makes you wonder what'll happen next.
I like Tilda Swindon but her acting, because of script, is extremely weird and out of place.
No redeeming value whatsoever. It's a waste of filmmaking.

After he and his first wife separate, journalist David Sheff struggles to help their teenage son, who goes from experimenting with drugs to becoming devastatingly addicted to methamphetamine.
Having never read the book, 'Beautiful Boy' or 'Tweak' and watching the film as part of a mystery screening at my local cinema I did not know what to expect from this film nor even have any idea what it was about. It doesn't grip you with typical Hollywood drama, there's surprisingly few raised voices or dramatic plot twists, rather it continually raises and dashes your hopes, pushing Nic closer to self destruction and David and the Audience further into despair, all the while building up the backstory of the bond between Nic and David.
People seem to be critiquing the film on two main points; Skimming over parts of the source material and lack of emotional involvement. I may read the book at some point but it is important to remember that films simply do not have the time and resources necessary to adapt to film faithfully and well a book in it's entirety. As a faithful representation of the source material I do not doubt hat it is lacking in places but as a film representing the hopeless cycle of trying to save someone unwilling to help themselves it succeeds spectacularly.
As for calling the film emotionally uninvolved I think the main problem is that the film is not always explicit in it's representation of people's thoughts and feelings. I personally have little problem with a film using symbolism and cinematography rather than dialogue to convey important information but if that is something you are not used to then the flashbacks can become confusing and there is a lot of detail that can be missed.
While I had no idea what to expect I was surprised by this film, it is not a pleasant or light watch, and will likely be uncomfortable for parents but it is superbly acted and truly tragic.

I randomly chose it but I could tell that it was going to be one of Depp's great performances. I was right. The story line also hits home because my mother was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 breast cancer but she accepted treatment, her diagnosis was three years ago.

SUMMARY: The name of the game is fun in this installment. Little finds a way to relive the magic of Big and help gain a second childhood in the modern-day world. My friend and I had a blast with the little adventure at hand as both characters tackle the new challenges put before them in the worlds they are forced to face. The jokes were on point and well timed, keeping in theme with the energy of the movie. Part of this comes from the cute atmosphere established with the writing of this movie, mature enough to hit the older audience, yet still young enough to hit the teenagers and young adult crowd.
The acting helps to make this movie pop, Issa Rae works the assistant scene quite well, sass and innocence building together quite well to make a likeable character. She helps balance out the silliness, yet still add to it in her own manner that breaks up some of the monotony this film chooses to approach. As for young actress Marsai Martin, she's got quite a start to the acting career and I look forward to seeing the young girl in future installments. She's got the attitude of an adult down pat, sass blending with some comedic relief and childish moments that are quite balanced for a movie like this. Nevertheless, the chemistry between all cast both primary and secondary groups work well and I quite enjoyed seeing the teamwork bring the characters to life.
Yet, part of the fun comes from a killer soundtrack, new and old tracks coming together to capture the feelings of the scenes. The cultural representation the sound editor picked was extremely awesome, and had me dancing in my seat while also wanting to break out my phone to look up the songs. Even smarter, is that much of the movie's song sort of emphasize the other part I like of this movie, the morals that are embedded in this film. Yes, like many movies the morals are preachy and baked right in, but Little finds a way to mesh those lessons into some fun moments that help you enjoy what you are learning. Finding some lessons that are relevant, Little gets props for helping the audience dig deep and look into themselves to find their own abilities.

SUMMARY: Predictable thy name is comedy and Little tries hard to defy the expected jokes and plot lines this movie sets up a mile away. Little's focus on having fun means using the same tricks to get a laugh and the same means to get to the end of the story. Rather than leading to a build up, with areas that require intense focus, discovery, and a major push to get better, Little takes the fast approach to getting through the film. It's okay, but the movie had a lot of hinted opportunities that showed promise, but then dropped the ball leading to some disappointing moments. This was especially true with the teacher scenes that the trailers loved to highlight, characters that held potential with their introduction, but reduced to comedic props that didn't quite pack the kick I think they wanted. Some of the story points as well had the same issues going the same way, hints of fun adventures and the growth of characters that quickly fizzled out. Finally, the trailers are good at revealing much of the movie and there isn't too much one needs to see past the highlights they showed. Little falls victim to showing off too much, leaving little to the imagination outside of some of more engaging dialogue and a few romance scenes.
The VERDICT:
Little is fun, simple as that, but the movie needs some refining to be the classic that Big was presenting long ago. This new spin is cute, hits the target audience members well, and does the job of teaching you the important lessons with baked in, heartwarming goodness. While the movie is funny to so many levels, it is still very predictable and had so many avenues to go down for comedy that they left unfulfilled. Thus, the potential for going to see in the theaters is lessened by the trailers and lack of finesse that they were going for, and I recommend waiting on this one for home viewing. Still, check this one out eventually if you are looking for the means to have a good laugh fest for simplistic fun.

I'll keep it brief, but as a young woman living in New York. I would have thought she would be able to get herself out of the dumb situation she finds herself in. It felt as though she was sort of content with what was happening to her. Disappointing movie, with silly characters.

Terrific. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and emotional at the end. What more do you want? I loved the pacing. This is a young woman's film and Judy Dench was the translator and narrator. Throughout I asked myself, what would I do if I were in her shoes? I was impressed with the story and immersed inside it. The seriousness of what she did was dramatic. My glass was full with the intensity of it all. Excellent film.

First Blood is that rare film that is not black and white instead it deals with areas of Gray. Stallone's Acting is Very Good maybe the Finest he's ever done outside of F.I.S.T. And Yet while his Rambo is a compelling portrait of a man slowly going insane trying to find something resembling peace. Rambo never finds it. All he finds is hatred and fear aimed at him and that makes them hostile towards him. The Main Villain in this if you can call him one is Police Chief Wil Teasle wonderfully played by Brian Dennehy. The interaction between the two is tense and that's before the shooting starts. But this is Stallone's movie and his Tour de force as he creates a complex character that many have a hard time separating from the Real Stallone. Richard Crenna Steals the Show as Colonel Sam Trautman United States Special Forces coming all the way from fort Bragge to come get his boy. Crenna underplays his role cool as anyone has a right to be. Together this cast sets off a match headed towards Kegs of Gunpowder and dynamite First Blood does not disappoint and it will stay with you long after you've seen it.
